View Full Version : As Cruel As School Children

Horrific. That's the only word I can use to describe this after reading about this.
I knew from other reports that violent acts were increasing amongst school children but to think that a child of eleven is capable of such vile actions?
Two young boys were lured by two older boys and tortured until the arms of their attackers ached to which was the only reason they stopped.

When pressed about why he had had 'enough' the boy answered that he 'didn't want to do it anymore' because 'his arms were aching'.

They were also asked why they committed this acts of violence to which they replied:

'Don't know. 'Cos there were nowt to do.'

The horrible attack consisted of forcing the victims to strip and perform sexual acts, to eat dirt and nettles whilst using broken shards from discarded beer bottles to hold at their throats and cut at their skin. They also choked one of the boys with a clothes line and then went on to drop heavy stones and part of a sink on top of the other's head causing a lot of blood loss. Part of the attack was also filmed via a mobile phone.

If you read the article (link at the bottom) it goes on to say that the elder of the brothers had been allowed to watch films such as Saw, Chucky and other slasher movies. He also had access to his father's porn collection. It was not made clear whether the younger brother also watched the same kind of films.

What can we do about children today? Will sitting them in a classroom and tell them how dangerous guns and knives are achieve anything? Tell them to love thy neighbour? Or will that be just as useless as ASBO's which, lets face it, are worn with pride, much the same as a boxer's champion belt.
Should the blame be with the parents for not teaching their children right and wrong or for allowing them to watch movies intended for adults, both horror and pornographic?

Do you believe, that these children were influenced by the films in the first place? Can we really blame Saw and Chucky for poisoning our children?

I'm not sure if I believe that the silver screen, video games, music or television can influence people to commit such awful acts. My parents had a downstairs bedroom built for them when I was around the age of 10 or 11. I then had a free reign of the upstairs and I did have my own television with video player. I could very easily have taken a video from downstairs with the aid of a chair and or watched late night films. And I did. And I don't have thoughts of killing or harming other people.
I was also exposed to sex young after rooting through my parents room when they were moving downstairs and finding dirty videos. My parents didn't believe in the gooseberry bush or the stalk either and just said that babies came from people who had sex when I asked the question.

But, of course, people are different and some are more influenced by others. And maybe I am about to contradict myself a little but I do think that adult films should be viewed by adults only. Although, some rated 18's I would rate as a 15's personally.
And the House of the Dead (?) video game? Haven't got very far with it yet but I wouldn't say that was an 18 so far. But Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland was scary! The part with the mummy in the pyramid and the part with the Werewolf scared me when I was younger!

Something else to think about. What should be done? They can't go to jail but is there a correction facility for younger children? There ought to be if there isn't.
Edit: I just read in another report that the two brothers (attackers) were supposed to be with foster parents. Could this also be a factor in their behaviour? I also read that they had admitted to previously harming and forcing sexual acts upon another child Telegraph (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/7037886/Young-brother-filmed-torture-attack-on-schoolboy.html).

The older brother has four previous convictions, one for common assault and three for battery.

His younger brother has no formal convictions, but received a reprimand for

common assault and causing actual bodily harm two

weeks before the attack on the two boys.

Also, from the previous report, the younger brother was shown to exhibt the potential to become a physcopath. At this point, would it not have been a good idea to start dealing with it then? After all, the best way to fight it is to prevent it is it not? However, I cannot say that they were not already treating him but it's clear that if they did, it was not working.

The court heard from a psychiatrist that the younger attacker was at risk of becoming “a seriously disturbed *psychopathic offender” who “will go on inflicting harm unless someone stops him”.
